American Drug War: The Last White Hope is a frenetic presentation of a multitude of issues surrounding America's drug policies. It is a scathing critique of the war on drugs, and in particular highlights the role of American government in perpetuating, exacerbating, and manufacturing many drug-related problems.The film explores problematic and destructive substance use, the irrational line between legal and illegal substances, the government involvement in the crack epidemic, the different social patterns of various drugs, the arguments for decriminalization of substances, and medical marijuana, among other topics.
All in all I thought the presentation was rather sensationalized and chaotic and I would have preferred a more restrained and linear narrative.
